ROUND 2!?! ON THE RUN!?


Man, I just love Pedro Juan Caballero. There is no other place where I would rather be than here. Man, I got that energy, I am feeling good and I am ready to write the best email of my life.


So, I have a new companion, he is a goat, but he hasn't had his first taste of crazy Paraguayans. Until this fine day. We were casually walking to a new members house to talk to them and invite them to church. We did our normal 100 contacts and stuff, and got to our friends house. And out of the blue I just hear, "ELDERESSS!!" Ahhh great, here goes round 2. He comes running to us, stumbling and falling to the ground. Now, Elder Rasmussen is losing his mind on what's happening right now. I'm just looking at him like, hey don't worry this isn't my first rodeo. We are standing outside right now with a new member and she is only 14 years old. Her name is Tamia. The guy is yelling at us telling us that he needs some words, and Tamia goes, "You have a hard heart and soul." I am here like dang, alright Tamia go do our job. The guy wanted to go inside her house, I told him no and decided it would be best to walk to the church building so that Tamia wouldn't get involved in this anymore. Walk to the church building and talked for another 15 mins and he wanted to pray, but he wanted to pray with all of us kneeling down and holding hands. I didn't know what to do, so we just did it. Eventually, I made up an excuse to leave and he wanted to follow us but I told him no. Now me being super smart I was like alright let's go back to Tamia and make sure she's okay. Took the long way to Tamia so we don't run into this guy again. When we got there they wern't home. So, we start walking back and all of a sudden we see the dude again. Elder Rasmussen turned around so fast and started walking. I was laughing not believing what was happening. And all of a sudden I start hearing super loud footsteps. I ask Elder Rasmussen jokingly if this dude was running for us. And I kid you not, Elder Rasmussen started booking it. I turn around and this guy is after us. So, I started running and he didn't get to us. We got home safely and it's all good now. Welcome to Pedro Juan Caballero Elder.


I have a new mindset now when I am walking out on the streets, "Sin vergüenza." Which Just means, "without embarrassment." I want to talk to more people out on the streets. It has honestly been super dope. I found a family chilling outside and said, "sin vergüenza." Now we are teaching this family more about the Gospel. I also talked to this dude cutting my hair this morning and found out he is 17 and going to try to study how to cut hair. He asked me how much a haircut was in the states and I said around 30 bucks and he couldn't believe it. It was pretty funny.


Being district leader is super fun. I get to be more involved with the mission and figure out how we can be more successful. 


I was talking with a member yesterday and we were talking about different foods and stuff and he told me that he was going to make me eat cow stomach... yeah...ummm we might be seeing an email here in the next few weeks on how I almost died eating cow stomach. But hey, "sin vergüenza."


Other than that we be killing it out here in Paraguay. Crazy to think that everyone is about to finish this school year and start summer. Don't you all worry, we are getting cold and rainy here. Welcome to South America.

MAN DOWN MAN DOWN!?! HUGE FIRE??? New month, new adventures and new experiences... just love my time as a missionary. It looks like my time might be coming to an end here in Pedro Juan Caballero. Usually we stay in our areas for about 4 transfers(6 months ish) maximum and this was my 4th transfer. We can just say my time here won't be forgotten ever in my life. I have grown to love my savior here more and really got to grow here as a person. From a Spanish and Portugués standpoint, to a spiritual standpoint and to a missionary standpoint. It's crazy to think about how fast time flies by. Had a good week though. Our friend Roman was going to have his marriage and baptism on the 15th of July, but we went through some changes. At first, he wanted to push it back so that they could have more money, but he had a change of heart and wanted to do it earlier. For a missionary, that's music to the ears. I GUESS MY TIME WASNT UP?!? So Monday rolls around and my mission president is hyped because we had 148 baptisms in the month of June. The highest amount in 10 years in South America South. So we went and had a huge lunch as an office. I jumped in the front seat of Presidents car and we drove off. After talking for a bit he tells me, "Hey Elder Ressel. You gotta go back to Concepcion to train an Elder." So... took that 7 hour bus ride again. Who knew that I was going to go back, and I am finishing the mission here. I am training a Paraguayo. It is pretty sick. Dude is tall like 6'5. And we are basically new to this area, so we just walk around talking to members and finding people to teach. What a dream come true. In the program back in the office we had 15 baptisms in June. Highest amount in any month ever in the mission. What a success that has been for the mission. Played basketball with my president in the morning and he killed me. See you guys really soon... From you...

"YOU HAVE THE CALIFORNIA LEAD BACKNESS TO YOU?!?” The weeks really are just flying by here. It is one of those surreal feelings that weeks really do go by super fast. However, this week was a good week. Being here in the office, one of the down sides about it is that you see and here are the problems in the mission. Lots of people go home early. We had an Elder go home early and dang, one of the saddest things that I have been a part of. He will come back though and serve in the way the Lord needs him. I had Interviews with my Mission President last week. I have been studying a lot about Christlike attributes and I ask my Mission President, "How can we seek and receive Christlike attributes?" He further explained some really insightful things and then he tells me, "you have that California lead backness to you Elder Ressel." All I could do was laugh and think how everyone tells me that.
