BOSS BATTLE FIGHT VS MOTHER NATURE?!? INSANE FIGHT!!
Guys...mother nature hit me with the one, two this week. 3 weeks of me fighting for my life in this weather.
How is it going my friends? I hope you all had nice, sunny, calm weather and partied it up for Halloween. Over here, I can not say the same. We had over 100 and humid, to 60 and water flooding the streets.
Basically, I guess Thursday Asuncion got destroyed by this storm that came through. Over here, we just had tons of rain and our power went out in our house. However, on Saturday, I don't even have a word that can describe how much rain we had. We just finished a lesson with a family, and we were waiting to see if we could stop by an inactive member's home. This huge storm came through, knocking trees down and flooding the streets again. However, I really wanted to go to this person's home. We were waiting in this little shop, hoping the storm would pass away. However, after 30 mins, it was just getting worse. The owner of this store gave us black trash bags to use as ponchos and we were on our way. To say the least, I had to walk in water that was up to my knees. In the moment it was funny. I was laughing, having a blast. THEN, I SEE A TOILET SEAT JUST FLOATING IN THE WATER AND THE WATER A DIFFERENT COLOR, AND I JUST WANTED TO THROW UP. IT WAS NOT FUN AFTER THAT.
Those clothes will be getting burned eventually. However, we had an amazing lesson with the family and it was all worth it after. I will attach a video of me walking in the water.
I am starting to learn how to cook different foods here. I am learning how to cook these cheese breads that are super good here. Hey guys, I am becoming an adult. Next thing you know, I am going to learn how to clean my house.
I love the people here. Some of the nicest people you are going to meet. Offering you food or things that you know that they need more than you need. I think a lot about humility. Thinking less of yourself, and thinking more of others. Being here in Paraguay, I have realized that I had everything anyone could have wanted. A nice home, pool, better food, better education, a car, money, etc. Being here has helped me realize that I should be doing everything I can to help the people here feel as much love as possible. Thinking less about how I got to eat eggs again for dinner for the 6th day in a row, and worrying more about how I can make an impact on the people here. I encourage you all to show more humility to the people around you and help others feel loved.
What is everyone doing for Halloween? Customs? Weird couple costumes? HEY SAVE ME A REESE'S TAKE 5 PLEASE! AHHHHH I MISS THOSE SO BADDDDDDD.
I love you all and you know...miss you all a little too
And of course, from your favorite,
Elder Ressel
