I LOVE CHICKEN?!? BUT, DO I LOVE CHICKEN THAT MUCH!?! GONE WRONG!!

So, you are probably wondering, why the heck is this the title of this week's email? Well, let me tell you. We all know that I love chicken. Any type of chicken I will eat. We went to a family's home to have lunch. They whipped out some chicken on the bone and some rice. To say the least, it was fire. The piece of chicken they gave me had a ton of fat on it though. Here in Paraguay, it is nice of you to finish all the food they give you, because of how poor and little the people have. So, I finished everything they gave me... even the vegetables. However, I did not eat the fat off the bone, because... well I didn't even need to explain that. You just don't eat the fat. The family was telling me in Spanish to pick up the bone and eat the rest. I was so confused, because I finished everything on the plate. But they were insisting that I finish it. One of the elders was like you gotta eat the fat. I was like no way, you are lying. However, I had too. So, I ate the bone clean. Yeah... fat and everything. I wanted to cry, throw up, brush my teeth, anything possible to not feel that way. They were so happy that I ate it. They said to me, "Are you satisfied?" I was like, "Oh yeah, I feel great!" In reality, I was not. Do I love chicken that much? I don't even know anymore.

Anddddd another week done. How is everyone going? Are we still surviving without me? I know it is tough. You guys don't have to say it.

This was a fast week with tons of rejections. Like everyday. We go to a family's home that we had set up the day before, and they just ditch us. Ghost us. That is something that I got used to. We have a family that was taught by some other missionaries and they left the area weeks ago. So, now we teach them. We texted with them asking if we could meet with them, and they said for sure. The next day they told us that it was too late and we could not meet with them. However, we were with the Elders that had this area last time, and they messaged them asking if they could meet with them that day. Yeah... REJECTED. It is okay, I only cried a little inside ahah.

It rained here really badly one day. When we were getting ready for the day, the house decided that we didn't deserve water. So, in the middle of the shower the water stopped working. Fantastic, right! Welcome to a third world country Noah. Not to mention that day, we were supposed to eat with a family for lunch and they called us saying that they dropped our food. I felt so bad, but it was so funny to hear them explain what happened.

I don't think I have really explained how shopping here works and what I have seen that has made me stop and question everything that I knew before. To start, milk is not in the fridge. It is on the shelf. Yeah...on the shelf. I guess it can last up to 3 months if you do not open it, and around a month once you open it. Yeah, milk doesn't work like that. The avocados here are like the size of a coconut. I am not even joking, they are huge. OH, THEY HAVE PIG HEADS IN THE MEAT SECTION. IT WAS ONE OF THE CRAZIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE EYES JUST STARING INTO YOUR SOUL. WILD.

We had General Conference this week. For those of you who do not know what that is, this is when the prophet and apostles come together and share talks they have prepared for us to hear. All the talks were awesome, but one focus I saw a lot was dealing with trials and hard times. It was said that Christ would rather see you grow and learn in the midst of your hardships, then give you the easy way out. I truly believe that even when we think God is not watching over us, he is helping you and guiding you.

Well my fellow people, I love you all and miss you everyday. Until next week's adventures.
From your favorite,
Elder Ressel
